Anonymous asked: Why did you transfer schools?
Hmm.. Well for a number of reasons and honestly, it has taken all semester here at AU to truly understand why it was so important for me to leave Lewis and Clark. I absolutely loved Portland and LC was a great school and I was challenged and met wonderful people and made good friends, but at the end of the day, I wasn’t able to do what I loved and I felt really limited in what I could study. American has an incredible International Studies program and the professors have so much experience and knowledge. I have always wanted my college experience to mean something to the world, and at LC I wasn’t able to be involved in the activism I love. I felt stuck and not fully present. I felt like I wasn’t myself for a whole year and it took transferring to American for me to realize that. DC is such an active city and I’m constantly being challenged to progress and grow a a student and an activist and I’m constantly surrounded my a community of people that love me. I feel connected to home, supported my friends, and constantly encouraged to challenge myself. I can’t tell you enough how happy I am here in DC. And I don’t regret going to LC one bit because my time there shaped who I am and prepared me for today. …so that’s why.
